Bateleur Eco Safaris is situated in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, which is part of the Greater Kruger National Park in South Africa. The area is known for its boundless variety of fascinating animals, birds, insects and plants. An environmentally-friendly, tented bush camp, providing key elements that contribute to experiencing an African safari from a slightly different and more adventurous perspective - flexibility; privacy; hands-on, interactive activities; no time constraints; no dress code and a host of unexpected, thrilling encounters.

Location

Directions from Johannesburg

From Johannesburg take the N12 to Witbank (eMalahleni),
this distance being 145km, continue on the N4 Witbank
(eMalahleni) to Belfast, distance 130km, then from Belfast
take the R540 to Dullstroom and continue to Lydenburg
(Mashishing), distance 93km, then from Lydenburg
(Mashishing) take the R36 to Ohrigstad, continue to the J.G.
Strijdom Tunnel. Pass through the tunnel on the R36 and
continue with the R527 towards Hoedspruit. Go over railway
bridge at stop sign – turn right onto Klaserie Road. After 6km
turn left to Timbavati (Argyle Road). Pass through the
Guernsey Access Control 100m down the road. You will
travel on 20km of tar road until you cross the Klaserie River.
The Timbavati Control Gate is 100m after the Klaserie River.

Accommodation

The Bateleur Eco Safaris camp features 10 East African Safari tents, set along a sandy riverbed, under majestic Apple Leaf, Jackalberry and Tamboti trees.  The tents sleep 2 and if necessary, 3 people each.  Each tent is comfortably furnished with beds (custom-made for taller guests), bedside tables, cotton linen, pillows, towels, blankets, chest of drawers & hanging rail for clothing.  Three tents currently feature en-suite bathrooms and over the next year, bathrooms will be attached to the remaining tents.

  • No electricity at the camp. Gas, battery, paraffin and solar power are used.

2-7 guests –rate is R2899 per person per night
8 or more guests rate is R2239 per person per night

Dining

Home style cooking is provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner and special dietary requirements can be catered for by prior arrangement. Guests can enjoy unlimited quantities of tea, coffee, soft drinks, juices and water.  Dinner is served around a camp fire in an open-air boma.
